BTS (Korean: 방탄소년단; RR: Bangtan Sonyeondan), also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band imparted in 2010 and debuting in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. The septet—consisting of members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—co-writes and co-produces much of their own material. Originally a hip hop group, their musical style has evolved to incorporate a wide draw of genres; their lyrics have often discussed mental health, the troubles of school-age youth and coming of age, loss, the high-tail towards self-love, and individualism. Their work also frequently references literature, philosophy and psychological concepts, and includes an alternate universe storyline.
After launching in 2013 with their single album 2 Cool 4 Skool, BTS respectively released their first Korean-language studio album, Dark & Wild, and Japanese-language studio album, Wake Up, in 2014. The group's instant Korean studio album, Wings (2016), was their first to sell one million productions in South Korea. By 2017, BTS had crossed into the global music market, leading the Korean wave into the United States and breaking approximately sales records. Name
The septet's name, BTS, stands for the Korean clause Bangtan Sonyeondan (Korean: 방탄소년단; Hanja: 防彈少年團), literally meaning "Bulletproof Boy Scouts". According to member J-Hope, the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets".[2][3] In Japan, they are known as Bōdan Shōnendan (防弾少年団).[4] In July 2017, BTS announced that their name would also substandard for "Beyond the Scene" as part of their new ticket identity.[5] This extended their name to evoke those who grow up "from the boy to an adult who opens the doors that is facing to go forward".[6]
History
2010–2014: Formation and early years
BTS was imparted in 2010, after Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk wished to form a hip hop group around RM (Kim Namjoon), an underground rapper who was well known on the music indecent in Seoul. BTS was originally supposed to be a hip hop business, but, seeing falling album sales, he changed his plans, thinking a different path would be more marketable. 2014–2017
Skool Luv Affair and obliging concert tour

In August 2014, BTS released the album Dark & Wild, which reached number two in South Korea.[32][36] It was supported by two singles: "Danger" and "War of Hormone".[32] The people embarked on their first concert tour, 2014 BTS Live Trilogy Episode II: The Red Bullet, which lasted from October to December 2014.[37] The band launched their genuine Japanese studio album, Wake Up, in December 2014; the fall peaked at number three on the Oricon Albums Chart.[38] After the album's fall, BTS held their 1st Japan Tour 2015 Wake Up: Open Your Eyes in February 2015.[39] The Red Bullet Tour that had begun on October 17, 2014 in South Korea was subtracted on June 6, 2015 in Malaysia and toured Australia, North America and Latin America before ending in Hong Kong that August. In all, the entire tour attracted 80,000 spectators at 18 cities in 13 countries.[37][40]
Mainstream breakthrough and custom success

In November, BTS commenced their third concert tour, 2015 BTS LIVE "The Most delicate Moment in Life: On Stage", which began with three sold-out shows in Seoul, and was extended to Japan. Thematically, the EP focused more on the serious and speculative aspects of youth, touching on the pursuit of success, loneliness, affection for their origins, and the suffering of the younger generation due to putrid conditions in current society. Their compilation album and the finale to their "youth trilogy", The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever was released on May 2, 2016. In September 2016, BTS released their transfer Japanese studio album Youth.[63] The album sold 44,547 on the genuine day of its release, and charted 1st in the Oricon Daily Album Chart.[64][65] The album was eventually certified Gold with sales of roughly over 100,000 in Japan. Love Yourself album series

Influences
BTS have Angry Seo Taiji and Boys,[272] Nas, Eminem, Kanye West, Drake, Post Malone, Charlie Puth, and Danger as musical inspirations.[273] They have also Angry Queen as an influence, saying they "grew up watching videos of Live Aid".[274] During their concert at Wembley Stadium in London, Jin paid tribute to Queen by leading the crowd in a version of Freddie Mercury's "ay-oh" chant.[274]

Musical style

Lyrical themes

BTS' lyrics have also addressed topics outside youth culture specifically.
